Hardware
- Enterprise-grade drives (never desktop SATA) in RAID 10 or RAID 6
- Dual power supplies on separate circuits
- iDRAC / iLO enabled with strong credentials
Operating system
- Windows Server or Linux LTS — patched to current baseline
- Disk encryption at rest
- Local admin renamed, MFA on remote access
Backup & DR
- 3-2-1 rule: 3 copies, 2 media, 1 offsite
- Restore tested monthly — not just backups running
